Prof. Miller had asked if we have seen or heard of what New York City was like in the 70s and 80s. Crime was rampant, and what the city looked like (aside from how people dressed and which cars were on the streets) directly resulted from it. Of the most interesting is graffiti. When it was mentioned in class, you probably imagined a tag or two on each cart. Shocking doesn’t quite capture what subway carts actually looked like at that time. Particularly striking is some of the comments to the article with more resources.
